Video Blog from a founding SiOP core leadership team member:
Standing in Our Power (SiOP) emerged directly from the need for visionary women of color spaces where we can work collectively to practice and implement transformative change personally and collectively. By fostering strong communities of practice, we seek to redefine the ‘norm’ and intentionally forge new paths. After several months of research and development, followed by a deep listening phase, we held our inaugural gathering in October 2012. We later kicked off a 10-month Transformational Leadership Institute (TLI) with a national retreat in October 2013. The institute was comprised of local and national gatherings, coaching, training, mentoring, and more. We later launched a Women of Color in Philanthropy initiative in 2014. In 2016, we began partnering with foundations to offer capacity building services, in the form of transformational leadership development, to their grantees. We also developed and are preparing to launch our Women of Color Business Incubator.
Over the last five years, we’ve been developing and honing our model for transformational leadership development, and we’ve been in deep practice of living into our model as the leadership core of SiOP.
